Art Show and Silent Auction – Part 2

Hi all,

Last night I went to the West and Wine Bar for the Art Show and Silent Auction to benefit Duke Center of Eating Disorders. I was pleased to see so many people attend and enjoy the event. I saw all kinds of beautiful artwork, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, art craft, books, etc.

I am very happy to say that as soon as we got there, somebody had bid on my painting “Smooth Sailing”, and by the time we left (before the end), it had several bids

Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay for too long, but I observed many people bidding on different artwork. I have the impression the Duke Center collected a good sum of money to help people with eating disorders.

Thanks to the organizers of the event that did a great job, and the food and wine was wonderful. I hope they keep doing this event every year.

I have donated my painting “Smooth Sailing” to benefit Duke Center of Eating Disorders. The Art Show and Silent Auction will be held at West End Wine Bar from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Durham.

Proceeds will be used to fund the development of a treatment program that will allow families who cannot afford or access eating disorders treatment to receive the affordable care they need.

I feel good every time I donate or somehow help towards a good cause, and specially this time I feel very happy for having the opportunity to donate one of my paintings.

I wish all the luck to Duke Center of Eating Disorders on this Art Exhibition and Auction Event, and I hope they can raise lots of money to keep helping people.

Gallery Exhibition

This month I will be exhibiting at the Visual Arts Exchange Gallery. This exhibition is called “Snapshot” for digital pictures.

As an artist, I love photography and I never thought that the art of taking good pictures could be so complicated and thoughtful. But I love it! and every time I use the camera I learn something new. I am also happy to say that my husband is also participating at this exhibition.

Below is my picture “The Flight of a Hummingbird” which I took couple weeks ago from the window of my kitchen. I was lucky to find a beautiful green male Hummingbird:

Fine Arts League of Cary Art Exhibition

Hi All!

This past Saturday was the Art Raleigh festival in Downtown. Artsplosure in conjunction with the Raleigh Wide Open organized this event. Many performers and musicians, craftsmen, food vendors and Visual Artists were involved in this one day show.

It was supposed to be a big event and many people gathered to enjoy and participate in different activities, including a parade. Unfortunately, between the rain and my son hitting everybody with the umbrella, my hubby and I decided to leave and didn’t have a chance to see a lot.

I personally like some of the Visual Art I saw. This year I wasn’t ready to participate since I’ve busy painting, with exhibitions and the website. Maybe next year I can join them

I had the pleasure to volunteer along with other regional artists to work on a six panels mural exhibition. This was part of a renovation for Club Nova, a nonprofit mental illness support organization. I enjoyed it a lot and I greatly thank to Andria for inviting me to participate for this great cause.

NCMA West Building Opening

Hi all,

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the New “West Building” of the North Carolina Museum of Art. As a masterpiece member of the NCMA, I had the privilege to attend the “Preview Day” of the opening, and to enjoy more than 29 sculptures by Auguste Rodin, and artworks by Monet, Albert Bierstadt, El Anatsui, Jackie Ferrara, among others.

I have to say that I was really impressed with the exterior and interior galleries, more that 65,000 square feet of exhibition space, restaurant, store, and the Museum’s collections of antiquities, Renaissance art, European paintings and sculptures, 18th and 19th-century American art, African and Egyptian art, and Modern-Contemporary Abstract Art.

This building intends to be the new home of the NCMA’s permanent collection and is an improvement for the art community. I am glad that I am part of it and can share these pictures with you:

Art Exhibition at The Marriott Hotel

Thanks to everybody who came last night to the “Posta Tuscan Grille” at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Raleigh.

We had an amazing time with live music, networking and my art exhibition. Here are some pictures:

I want to thank the people from Triangle Blvd.tv and specially to Damon and Jamie for coordinating this event.

I also want to thank Sr. Guillo Carias for playing Latin music and several songs from Venezuela.

Business of Being an Artist

Last night, I went to the “Business of Being an Artist” lecture series organized by the Visual Art Exchange Association and Gallery (VAE). The lecture took place at the Carswell Concert Hall in the Wainright Music Building at Meredith College. The speakers were Rory Parnell and Mary Kay Kennedy from The Mahler Fine Art Gallery, and Jeff Pettus from the North Carolina Arts Council.

I have to say that the speakers provided very interesting information and they were very receptive to questions. This was the first time I participate in an event as a member of VAE, and I am looking forward to keep participating!
